3 ways to overcome imposter syndrome for good

3 ways to overcome imposter syndrome for good | Jeda.AI

Imposter Syndrome can happen to anyone, at any stage of their career. It’s that tiny inner critic that says that you’re not good enough, that you don’t belong, that you don’t deserve the job, the promotion, or the seat at the table. It affects women and people of color more disproportionately than men, but it is usually the only thing stopping you from achieving your dreams.

Well, enough is enough! It's time to reclaim your voice and your confidence. Here are 3 ways you can let go of imposter syndrome.

1. Recognize that you are not alone

Imposter syndrome is extremely common. If you are feeling it, chances are someone else in the same room is experiencing it too. In fact, some of the most successful people in life have and continue to experience imposter syndrome. The list includes Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, and Maya Angelou.

The difference is that they are able to recognize that it is a feeling and that they have the power to unsubscribe from it.

2. Make a list of your accomplishments

Sometimes, our minds can be great at holding us back. So make a list of your accomplishments and qualifications. Ask yourself, is there anything that makes you less qualified than others for this opportunity? Then ask yourself, is there anything that makes you, more qualified than others?

Own those accomplishments and turn them into affirmations that you can repeat every day.

3. Externalize the imposter syndrome through mindfulness

The inner critic is not your voice. Remind yourself whenever you are feeling low, "This is not my voice. This is the imposter syndrome speaking. I am more than capable and I choose to unsubscribe from these thoughts."

You can achieve this through mindful activities such as meditation, walking, or even journaling or doodling. Jeda Ai is a great place to get your negative thoughts down on paper and to challenge your inner critic. Just open up a board and start writing down your thoughts or doodling. Over time, as you become more aware of this voice, you can externalize it and remind yourself of your strengths.

You are in control of your life and your mind. You can choose to disengage from imposter syndrome and redirect them to your accomplishments.
